What Other Organisations Should I Set Up?
The following organisations are used in Vision 3 and should therefore be set up:
- Clinics or Units - For referral purposes, any clinics or units you refer to. These are set up in the same way as a hospital, see Adding a Hospital or NHS Trust for details.
- Credit card companies - This allows credit card numbers to be entered for private patients from Registration - Identifiers.
- Drug manufacturers - Used when recording batch numbers on practice administered therapy items in Consultation Manager.
- Insurance organisations - These can be recorded in a patient's Registration record for example, BUPA.
- Medical Insurance Organisations - For example, the Medical Defence Union, which can then be selected on a GP's Professional details in File Maintenance - Staff.
- Pharmacies - It is important you add a list of local pharmacies. You can select a patient's Preferred Pharmacy which prints on the top left corner of a prescription, though long names may have to be truncated. It is recommended that you add the pharmacy NACS code in the identifier tab. This is especially important for electronic prescribing where a nominated dispenser can also be selected. Adding the NACS code means that Vision 3 can accurately match or mismatch the nominated and preferred pharmacy on the patient record.Training Tip - An address, including Town, must be added to a pharmacy to enable Preferred Pharmacy to print on the top left corner of a prescription.
- Primary Care Trust/Clinical Commissioning Group - From Organisation - Identifiers, enter the PCT code (5 character format beginning with 5) or CCG code (NNA for example12A). Record address and contact numbers. On the Practice Details screen, you can select a PCT or CCG from a list. The PCT/CCG address prints on prescriptions rather than the HA, in England and Wales only, see Main Surgery for details.
- Residential Institutes - see Adding a Nursing Home or Residential Institute for details.
- Social Services - Add Social Service offices and other organisations to whom you may make referrals, such as McMillan Nurses that supply carers. The Carer can be added as a "Person" directly for that organisation. They are then available on a Carers list from either Registration or Consultation Manager. Note - You can also add carers, even if they are not patients with your practice, within either of these modules.
Note – To print this topic select Print in the top right corner and follow the on-screen prompts.
