Add a new patient quickly with minimum details
You can add a new patient quickly by following the sequence to add a new patient (see Add a new patient), filling in the minimum mandatory entries which are prompts coloured red. Don't forget to check first in case they are already on the computer as you would normally, before Adding.
In Registration Status, choose the status of REFERRED, as this is not usually used for anything else, and registering a patient with this status only requires the most basic data to be added on to the computer.
If the patient is registered as referred, only the first registration screen and the address need to be completed.
As long as you reach the Registration - Personal Details screen, and even before adding the address, you can click OK to save and create an incomplete registration, see Incomplete Details and Incomplete RegLinks for details. An address is advisable though, particularly if you want to issue a prescription.
This patient will then be on the patient database. You may then enter clinical data by clicking on Consultation Manager from the Action menu.
No Acceptance Transaction is generated to the Health Authority because the registration is incomplete.
If the patient registers subsequently as a permanent patient, then follow the steps to re-register a patient (see Re-Registration).
If the patient doesn't register, follow the instructions for transferring the patient out (see Adding and Maintaining Patient Addresses).
