Codesets Overview

Pathway Developer utilises the three main coding structures used within clinical systems:

• Read2 - Read dictionary

• CTV3 - version 3 of the Read dictionary

• SNOMED CT - replaced the Read dictionaries

A Codeset File contains lists of Codesets, which contain groups of clinical codes (Read, CTV3 and/or Snomed).

• Codeset File - This is a library of Codesets, and can be linked to a Pathway.
• Codeset(s) - These contain one or many codes, and are used when building rules, for example, checking the existence or non-existence of clinical codes in a patient's record. These are created using the Code Search - SNOMED CT or Codeset Builder tools.
• Codes -  These can be Read2, CTV3 and/or Snomed, and form a Codeset,
