Coding Types and Structures

Pathway Developer utilises the three main coding structures used within clinical systems:

• Read2 - Read dictionary

• CTV3 - version 3 of the Read dictionary

• SNOMED CT - replaced the Read dictionaries

When working with Codesets the mapping relationships are:

• Read2 to CTV3
  This maps the codes and includes the mapping of chapters

• CTV3 to SNOMED CT
  This maps the individual codes, however, a Read chapter cannot be mapped to the SNOMED CT hierarchy as this has a different structure
