Acute Medication Service (AMS) Qualifying Items
When you view an unprinted acute or repeat issue within Prescription Manager, it displays as an Acute Medication Service (AMS) item provided that the following conditions are met:
- AMS is enabled, seeActivating Acute Medication Service (AMS) for details if required.
- The person to sign is a GP, Nurses and Supplementary Prescribers are currently excluded from AMS.
- The patient has not withdrawn consent to participate in the AMS program, see Patient Consent for Acute Medication Service (AMS) for details if required.
- The drug is not a prescription which normally prints on the right-hand side, for example a private prescription.
- The item is not personally/practice administered (PA). Note - In Scotland, PA items are not printed. If you tick P/Admin on the Therapy - Add screen because the item is practice administered, the Print Script tick is automatically removed. If you want to print the prescription, you must manually retick Print Script.
- The Source of drug is In Practice.
Any item that falls within the scope of AMS prints with a barcode on the prescription form, with up to 3 items per form.
