Patient Consent for Acute Medication Service (AMS)

Patient consent for participation in the Acute Medication Service (AMS) scheme is assumed, though it can be withdrawn.

If a patient withdraws consent, you must record the dissent in the patient' record.

Note - Once consent is withdrawn, a prescription does not print with a barcode and there is no electronic message.

To record disseent:

  1. From Consultation Manager, select the patient in the usual way.
  2. Select Patient Details - Preferences:

    Training Tip - You can also access the patient's consent form from within Prescription Manager and from the Consent tab of their Registration record.
  3. Select Change and the ePharmacy Consent screen displays:

  4. Send eAMS prescriptions is ticked by default, to record dissent, remove the tick.
  5. Select Save to save the change.
