Triggering Guidelines By Clinical Terms
Guidelines can be triggered as a result of entering certain clinical terms during a consultation, for example, via History - Add or READ Term - Add. The triggered Guideline is then shown in the Guideline tab of the Patient Record, or you can select it from the Select Guideline screen.
For example:
- From Consultation Manager, select the patient required in the usual way.
- In READ Term - Add, enter either '#C10' or 'dm' and then press Enter on your keyboard.
- The History - Add screen displays, change Episode Type and Priority if required and then select OK.
- Because 'C10' is a triggering clinical term for the QOF Diabetes Guideline:
- If you have Active Triggering selected you are asked if you want to view it, select View.
- If you have Passive triggering selected, a green title line displays at the bottom of the Alerts pane; double click on this line to display the Guideline.
- Finally the Guideline displays.
Training Tip - Select the top right square to maximise the screen.
If a patient has a Problem with the same clinical term that triggers a Guideline and the Consultation Setup Options are set to Passive or Active triggering of Guidelines every time you call up this patient, the triggered Guideline displays as a green line minimised at the bottom of the
