Guidelines - Adding Drug Information

You can add drug specific information that can be printed and handed to a patient to a Guideline by using Drug Information from the floating toolbar. For example, for angina attacks, it can advise the patient what to do and when to use the GTN tablet under the tongue.

Training Tip - This information prints out on the practice report printer. Patient Advice, which prints on the right-hand side of a prescription form, is different, see Non-drug Therapy Items or Advice on Prescriptions for details.

Adding Drug Information to a Guideline

To add drug information to a Guideline:

  1. From Consultation Manager, select Guidelines - Select Guide and either:
  2. From the floating toolbar, select Drug Information
  3. The Enter the Drug Information screen displays, in Subheading enter a suitable sub-heading
  4. In Main Body Text, enter the text for your drug information in the following format:
    • <HTML><TITLE> Patient Leaflet Title goes here</TITLE>.
      Training Tip - If you do not enter any Title text, then the entire Body text records in the patient record.
    • <BODY>The text of your patient leaflet goes here</BODY></HTML>

    • Within the body of the text, you can also use additional HTML formatting, including:

      • <H1>-<H6> - Headings

      • <UL> - Unstructured list (bulleted)

      • <OL> - Ordered list (numbered)

      • <LI> - To create each of the bulleted/numbered items in a list

      • <P> - Paragraph break, for example

  5. Select OK and finish designing your Guideline in the usual way.

In the example below, the Drug Information for Patient line is at level 3, under Glyceryl Trinitrate at level 2, and Antiplatelet therapy/nitrates at level 1:

Printing Drug Information from a Guideline

To print drug information from a Guideline, simply select the drug information line to highlight it and then select Go .

Note - If you have Auto-Select Drug Information for patients selected in Consultation - Options - Setup, whenever a drug regime is invoked within a Guideline and selected for printing, the drug information automatically prints as well, see Consultation Manager Setup - Management for details.

If you first want to add additional free text to the existing information, just for this patient, then double click on the line, to display the Edit Text to be Printed screen, select:

  • Prefix to print any additional text at the start of the drug information.

  • Suffix to print any additional text at the start of the drug information.

Select OK for printing to start.
