Lung Function Tests

  • Peak Flow Rate (Current) - This screen includes calculations for the Predicted Peak Flow and Best Ever (see Peak Flow). Select the Device Type - either Wright or EN13826 (the patient must be 75 years or younger). The calculation of predicted peak flow depends on which is selected. Enter the peak flow Value (L/min). Select the Result Qualifier as relevant: None, Very High, High, Normal, Low, Very Low, Abnormal, Potential Abnormal, Outside referral range. The default Read code is 3395 Peak exp. flow rate: PEFR/PFR but there are several picklist options. Note that the Diagnostic Tests Management Plan also shows peak flow values (right click on the Diagnostic Tests line from the Navigation pane and select Management Plan).
  • Spirometry - The default Read code is 5882 Spirometry. The result qualifier options are None (default), Normal, Abnormal, Potentially Abnormal.
  • Airway Reversibility - The default Read code is 663J Airways obstruction reversible. The alternative option is 663K Airways obstruction irreversible. Enter the Value in litres - note you can use the picklist with =, <, >, ~.You may optionally enter the normal range. The Result Qualifier options are: None, Very High, High, Normal, Low, Very Low, Abnormal, Potential Abnormal, Outside referral range.
  • FEV1 (Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second) -The default Read code is 339O Forced expired volume in 1 second.Other options are : 3397 Forced expiratory volume - FEV, 339P Expected FEV1, 339S Percent predicted FEV1.
  • Enter the Value in litres - note you can use the picklist with =, <, >, ~.You may optionally enter the normal range. The Result Qualifier options are: None, Very High, High, Normal, Low, Very Low, Abnormal, Potential Abnormal, Outside referral range.
  • FEV1/FVC - The default Read code is 339M FEV1/FVC ratio. Other options include: 3398 FEV1/FVC ratio normal, 3399 FEV1/FVC ratio abnormal, 339N Expected FEV1/FVC ratio, 339R FEV1/FVC percent, 339T FEV1/FVC > 70% of predicted, 339U FEV1/FVC < 70% of predicted.

  • Forced Vital Capacity - The default Read code is 3396 Forced vital capacity - FVC. Other options are: 339Q Expected FVC, 339i FVC/Expected FVC percent.

  • Lung Function Before Bronchodilation - The default Read code is 339A Peakflow rate before bronchodilation. Other options are 339a FEV1 before bronchodilation, 339l FEV1/FVC ratio before bronchodilator.
  • Lung Function After Bronchodilation - The default Read code is 339B Peak flow rate after bronchodilation. Other options are: 339b FEV1 after bronchodilation, 339h FVC after bronchodilation, 339m FEV1/FVC ratio after bronchodilator.
  • Lung Function Pre Steroids - The Read code default is 339c Peak expiratory flowrate pre steroids. Other options are: 339e FEV1 pre steroids, 339j FEV1/FVCratio pre steroids.
  • Lung Function Post Steroids - The Read code default is 339d Peak expiratoryflow rage post steroids. Other options are: 339f FEV1 post steroids, 339k FEV1/FVC ratio post steroids.
