The Kingshill Research Centre, Swindon, UK owns the copyright to The Kingshill Version 2000 of the 6CIT Calculator but allows free usage to healthcare professionals.
The 6CIT Calculator is a Dementia screening tool that uses an inverse score and questions are weighted to produce a total out of 28.
Scores of 0-7 are considered normal and 8 or more significant.
Probability statistics at the 7/8 cut-off: Overall figures - sensitivity = 90%, specificity = 100%; in mild dementia, sensitivity = 78%, specificity = 100%.
Accessing the 6CIT Calculator
- From Consultation Manager, select Vision+ from the floating toolbar and select Calculators - Mental Health - 6CIT.
- The 6CIT Calculator displays:
Using the Calculator
Home Tab
From the Home tab:

Save & Close - Select to save the calculator and generated score to the patient's record.

Show Indicators - Select to display the patient's Alert Indicator without opening Consultation Manager.

Undo Last Entry - Deletes the previous entry.

Indicator Logic - Select to display the rules behind the calculator.

Default Date - Defaults to today, update if required by entering a new date or selecting from the calendar.

Previous Tab / Next Tab - Moves between the Calculator tabs.
Calculator Tabs
Select from:

History - Displays the clinical information from the patient's record.

Completing the Calculator
To complete the 6CIT Calculator and score your patient:

Complete the calculator by asking the patient the questions provided and selecting the options as appropriate.
- Select Save & Close
to save the score and calculator to the patient's record.
- The appropriate clinical term saves to the patient's record:
