Private or Referred

Private patients are those patients who are not being cared for within the NHS and are under private care within the practice. Do not confuse this with a previously private patient who now wants to register under the NHS - for these, enter an Applied registration status. If a private patient is registering without a medical card, see Private patients. Note that in Registration-Identifiers, you can add credit card numbers under Private Patient payment, and the credit card company (eg Barclaycard). The credit card company needs first to be added as an Organisation in File Maintenance.

In the Channel Islands, there is an additional status of Referred. In Add a new patient quickly with minimum details, we explain how it is possible to use the Referred status to add a patient to Vision 3 quickly.
