What is Single Sign On (SSO)?

Single Sign On (SSO) is a way to log into your clinical system using a Smartcard inserted into a Smartcard reader at your workstation, see Logging into Vision 3 Using your Smartcard - England only.

You are logged in according to the role set up on your Smartcard, this enables access to national services. Access to national services allows you access to:

  • Patient data on the National Spine.

  • Update patient demographic details (PDS).

  • The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).

  • Transfer records via GP2GP.

  • Book electronic appointments via the e-Referral Service.
