Logging in to ePharmacy

Logging in as part of system start-up

The following window will appear as part of a normal daily system start-up. See ePharmacy Technical Settings.

  • Type in your full pharmacist registration number then click the Log in button.

You cannot proceed past this option with ePharmacy enabled if you do not input a valid number of a pharmacist included as a prescriber in Pharmacy Manager.

Having entered a valid number and clicked the Log in button, Pharmacy Manager proceeds to load normally.

  • Click the Cancel button or press the key to avoid logging in.

Incorrect or unknown Registration number

If you click the Log in button having typed a number incorrectly, no match will be possible with a pharmacist included as a prescriber in Pharmacy Manager.

You will now be prompted to create a new pharmacist prescriber with the registration number you have typed.

Alternatively, you can view the details of the existing pharmacist in the event that you have just simply mistyped the number. You will then have to click the Cancel button to cancel the attempt. Pharmacy Manager will continue to load as normal, but ePharmacy access to create new consultations or edit existing work is disabled until a valid number has been entered. You are still permitted to view old ePharmacy transactions

Logging in other than as part of system start-up

If you do not set the prompt for the pharmacist user to log in as part of the system start-up OR you encounter difficulties e.g. you input an incorrect registration number (see above), you can also log in from within Pharmacy Manager.

  • Click the ePharmacy tab.

Your status as being not logged in is indicated by the Log in to ePharmacy icon being highlighted (see above). Additionally, the prescriber registration details entry is shown as User not logged in. Click the Log in icon and enter a valid registration number when prompted.

Once you have successfully logged in, the log in option is greyed out and the other ePharmacy icons change (giving a log out of ePharmacy option). Additionally, the prescriber details should now be shown, along with the patient name input box being enabled.

This option is not available for systems that already use the existing password operation. See also below.

Existing Password Log in Functions

Pharmacy Manager provides other password log in options in addition to the ePharmacy log in option.

The first is an option to set a registration number /password operation. See password operation.

The prompt for user log in option is not available when Pharmacy First Scotland - Standard (MAS) and eAMS are being activated, if the registration password operation is already being used for log in.

If you have this existing registration password security in place, you can continue to use this alternate option as this will also log in to both Pharmacy First Scotland - Standard (MAS) or eAMS automatically.

If you have configured Prompt for user log in, but then choose to set up the password operation, subsequently, you will not see the ePharmacy specific prompt as it will be overridden by the password operation.

The alternate option is a simple user password. See Password operation.

If you have the simple password in place, this prompt will continue to appear in addition to the ePharmacy registration prompt, if set.
