Controlled Drugs
Controlled drugs are marked CD within the product information section of the Select Drug screen:
The following apply to all Controlled Drugs:
- Prescribing Controlled Drugs for more than 30 Days - If you prescribe more than 30 days supply of a controlled drug, the 'Warning - this is a controlled drug and the treatment days are greater than 30' message displays. Select OK to continue.
The following rules apply to controlled drug prescriptions in England, Scotland and Wales:
- Schedule 2, 3 and 4 drugs print on the same prescription.
- Prescriptions for Schedules 2, 3 and 4 expire after 28 days, after that, they cannot be issued and are no longer valid. Day 1 is taken as the day the prescription was prescribed. If the prescription has not been printed before that date, the item does not display in Prescription Manager.
- The text CD is appended to the name of all CDs on printed prescriptions.
