Adding a Default Referral
Providing Default Referrals are set up, see Setting Up Default Referrals and Requests for details, you can select from a pre-defined list of referral, speeding the whole process up and ensuring consistancy accross your practice.
Adding a new default referral to a patient's record can be done in two ways:

Add - Referrals - From Default
- From Consultation Manager, with the patient selected and a consultation open, select Add - Referrals - From Default.
- Select from the available list of defaults.
- Select OK.
- The Referral Maintenance - Add screen displays if any of the mandatory fields are not complete, complete as appropriate.Note - If Auto Save was ticked when adding the default and the mandatory fields are complete, then the Referral Maintenance - Add screen does not display. See Setting Up Default Referrals and Requests for details.
- Select Letter to add the referral letter if appropriate, see Generating a Referral/Request Letter if required.

Select OK to save.
Triggered by Clinical Term
If you have set a default referral up to be triggered by a specific clinical term:
- From Consultation Manager, with the patient selected and a consultation open, select Referral .
- In READ Term for Referral Reason, select the clinical term required.
- If there is a Default Referral set up for the term, the Referral - Add screen automatically completes, if there is more than one Default Referral linked to the term selected, you are offered a list to select from, select the appropriate default.
- Complete the Referral - Add screen as required.
- Select OK to save.
