Repeat Dispensing
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you can produce a repeatable prescription and a further series of ‘batch issues’ of up to a year’s duration, this is known as Repeat Dispensing. The pharmacy retains the repeatable prescription which has been signed by the GP. The patient keeps the remaining batch issues or asks the pharmacist to keep them on his/her behalf, until he/she requires another issue of medication.
For practices enabled for EPS2, you can also manage repeat dispensing electronically. See Electronic Repeat Dispensing.
