How to use the Electronic Frailty Index (eFI) Calculator in Consultation Manager
To view and apply the Electronic Frailty Index (eFI) calculator to an individual patient:
- From Consultation Manager, select Vision+ from the floating toolbar and select Calculators - Other - electronic Frailty Index.
- The eFI calculator screen displays.
Key points about using the calculator:
- Adding Data - To add data to the calculator, select the relevant line and click the three dots (...)
.
- Viewing data - The latest record displays on the calculator. To view historical data click the red Previous entries
icon. A blue Previous entry
icon indicates that the patient does not have any previous records.
- Predicted/Data Entry Mode - Selecting Predicted enables you to do a 'What If 'scenario to show the patient how changes in their health can affect their score. You can use the Predicted/Data Entry option to toggle between 'What If' scenarios and recording actual data. For more information, see Predicted Score.
- OK and OK & Attach - To save the clinical term, score and questionnaire select OK & Attach. To save just the clinical term and score (without the questionnaire) click OK. Reminder - You cannot select OK or OK & Attach whilst in Predicted mode.
- eFI Score Clinical term - Clinical term 38Ql.00 FI - Frailty Index is recorded in the patient's record under Scoring Test Result. Note - Practices in England must also record the eFI grading. See GMS Contract 2017/18 - England or How to use the eFI Template.
