Guidelines - External Applications

You can use External Applications to trigger an external application, such as Notepad, Word, LibreOffice or Excel. As well as any file, for example saved Word files or a web page.

To add an external application in to a Guideline:

  1. With a Guideline in design mode, select External Applications on the floating toolbar.
  2. At the Program Item Properties screen, select Browse.
  3. From Files of Type you can select All Files, Programs or Documents.
  4. Navigate to the required file and select Open.
  5. You can enter a description if required, this displays instead of the application name, leave black for the file/program name to display. Select:
    • Display as icon - For example,
    • Display as icon - Unticked, displays a hotspot, for example, .
    • Enter Web Address - Alternatively, you can select Enter Web Address to trigger a web page rather than a program or file. Your default browser icon displays, for example
  6. Select OK to save.
  7. You may change the image if you wish, select the line in design mode, right click on it and select Edit.
