Spine Services

Vision 3 connects directly to the NHS Spine in England and supports the following services:

• Single Sign On (SSO) - Secure sign on to national services and Vision 3 using a Smartcard and PIN, this allows you to use certain applications such as the e-Referral Service, GP2GP, EPSand the NCRS.

• Patient Demographics Service (PDS) - Selecting a patient's record from the PDS and updating the record if necessary. This involves connecting to the PDS to validate locally cached demographic details and ensure that GP2GPdetails are correct prior to the referral process or other national services.

• Summary Care Record (SCR) - Every patient in England has an electronic record called the Summary Care Record (SCR). This can also be referred to as the National Summary, the GP Summary or NHS Care Record.
