Overview of Patient Consent

Patients can opt to have a Summary Care Record on the NHS Spine.

They can choose to have:

  • Just allergies and medication, or

  • Allergies, medication and additional data, or

  • No SCR.

This must be recorded on the patient record, see Overview of Managing the Summary.

All local dissent preferences are uploaded to the NHS Spine (Access Control Service - ACS) when the Consent Migration upload is run.

Important - For patients without any consent preference, implied consent is assumed and medication and allergies are uploaded.
