EPS Phase 3 (Deployed Disabled) Prescription Token
In Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) Release 2 - Phase 3 (Deployed Disabled), the prescription form is called a token. A token prints on FP10 stationery, the only difference being a bar code which prints on the right-hand side of the token.
At the same time as printing, an electronic message is sent to the NHS Spine. The GP must manually sign the token before handing it to the patient.
The bar code contains to information required to identify the prescription, it links the patient with the prescription within the NHS Spine prescription database and enables any pharmacy in England to retrieve the related electronic prescription.
Points to Note:
- Mail Manager has filters to hide successful EPS messages from view, see Filtering by Type of Message in the Mail Manager Help Centre for details.
- You must log in to Vision 3 with your Smartcard for bar coded prescriptions to be produced, however, not all prescriptions have bar codes, some items, for example, appliances, are not eligible for EPS, see What is ineligible for EPS Phase 3 (Deployed Disabled)? for details.
- Vision 3 determines how items are grouped together on prescriptions.
- Items issued before EPS switch on cannot be reprinted, they must be reissued.
- Repeat masters issued before EPS switch-on can be issued against.
- EPS and non-EPS items print on separate prescriptions, therefore more than one prescription may print.
- The printed and signed prescription, with or without barcode, is the legal entity from which items are dispensed.
- Within Prescription Manager, the Rejected tab shows where the EPS system has found a technical problem with a message, in this case please contact Cegedim Healthcare Solutions service desk, see Contacting Us for Support for details.
