Guidelines - Text

Within a Guideline or Report, Text lines have several purposes:

• To provide supporting text for clinicians when using the Guideline, for example, aim, reference, supportive text and prescribing messages:

  • Aim - Text which defines the treatment aim, for example, for Acute myocardial infarction, this might be 'to reduce morbidity and mortality due to heart attack.'

  • Reference - Text that supports the subsequent guideline information and prescribing, usually including journal references.

  • Supportive Text - Text that has clinical information relevance to the guideline, usually for the clinician, but most likely not information you would print out for a patient.

  • Prescribing Messages - Text supporting the subsequent drug regime and is relevant for the clinician, see Prescribing Message for details.

• To provide printable sections for patients, for example, Patient Advice where no prescription is issued, see Guidelines - Patient Advice for details, and Drug Information informing them of details relating to their medication, see Guidelines - Adding Drug Information for details.
• To include web links in Guidelines.
• To open files using hypertext links.
