Mismatch Updates Scenarios
Updates can be done by either the receptionist or the GP, for example, as one of these three scenarios:
- The patient arrives at the surgery for their appointment and informs the receptionist of a change of demographic details. Prior to the consultation, practice staff access the Registration module. This connects to the PDS and downloads the current demographic details. The change of demographic details is recorded in the Registration module. On accepting the changes, the updated details are sent to the PDS. The details on the PDS can be assumed to be accurate at time of consultation.
- The patient enters the consultation and their record is selected by the GP. This automatically downloads the current demographics from the PDS. The patient informs the GP of a change of demographic details. The GP effects these changes and the PDS is updated. The consultation continues.
- The patient enters the consultation and their record is selected by the GP. This automatically downloads the current demographics from the PDS. The patient informs the GP of a change of demographic details. The GP instructs the patient to inform the practice staff of this on exit from the surgery. The consultation continues and includes an EBS session. At the end of the consultation, an e-referral message is sent. The patient informs the receptionist of a change of demographic details. Practice staff record the details and these are transmitted to the PDS.
