What information is Held about a Carer?

Carers, including non-patient carers, have the right under the Data Protection Act to see what information is held about them on Vision 3.

Note - Just running the Carers Report from Search and Reports may produce a report with confidential information that they are not entitled to see included.

The Carer Report is designed to address this issue, by allowing you to search on a group of patients as follows:

  1. Create a patient group which only contains the patient cared for by that carer, see Creating a New Group in the Patient Groups Help Centre for details if required.

  2. Now, from Search and Reports, select New Carers Report .

  3. Select Carers for these patients and then choose Select.

  4. The Carer Report - Groups or Clinical Audit Search Browser displays. Highlight the group you have just created and select OK.

  5. Under Carer Details Output, tick all of the available options:

    Note - Do not tick List Patients Cared For.

  6. Select Print.

The report can now be printed or saved as a file to forward to the carer.
