General Advice for Adding Patients
Before adding a new patient, display any patient who lives at the same address, if they are:
- In the same family, for example, a new baby, find the details of the mother of the household so that Vision 3 uses the same address details and saves you from entering them twice.
- In different families, for example, Mr and Mrs A have moved out of an address, and Mr and Mrs B are moving in, this is a new household. Add Mr B first, then add Mrs B and any other family, using Mr B's address details.
Patients can be registered with complete or incomplete details. Incomplete registrations are used for speed when, for example, a prescription is needed for a new patient in a hurry.
Some mandatory fields must be entered for registration:
- Surname
- Forename
- Date of birth
- Sex
- Trading Partner (Health Authority/Health Board)
- Registered GP
The Incomplete Details box remains ticked at the top of the patient's screen until the required details are entered, but you can continue with registration and entering clinical data in Consultation Manager.
For Registration Links practices, there is a separate Incomplete for Registration Links box indicating incompletely registered patients do not generate an Acceptance Transaction to the Trading Partner (TP), so they are not included on the practice list and you do not receive a capitation fee for them.
The Registration Status of new patients is Applied, which updates to Permanent after TP Approval, see Registration Status for further details.
