What Information is Sent in the Initial Upload?
Providing that the patient has not dissented, the following clinical information is sent as a text based summary as part of the Initial Upload. This is known as the Critical Data:
-
Current Repeat Medication - All repeat medication which have not been discontinued and are not more than 6 months past their review date. This includes items which are recorded on the system but which are prescribed elsewhere, for example, hospital or special clinic or, OTC (Over The Counter) drugs taken by the patient and recorded on your system.
-
Discontinued Repeat Medication - All repeat medication which has been discontinued in the last six months. This includes medication prescribed elsewhere and OTC drugs.
-
Acute Medication - All acute medication prescribed in the last six months. This includes medication prescribed elsewhere and OTC drugs.
-
Allergies and Adverse Reactions - Suspected adverse reactions and allergies including allergies to drugs, foods and any other substances, this includes Allergies entered through the Allergies and Intolerances Structured Data Area and also allergies recorded via a clinical term.
If the patient’s record does not contain one or any of the above, the heading description is uploaded as part of the summary but states 'no data of this type recorded'.
Adding Supplementary Data before the Initial Upload
You can add supplementary data to the patient’s National Summary before the Initial Upload is started, as long as you have recorded that the patient wants to have an SCR as a preference. After you have added the supplementary data, the SCR is automatically sent as part of the Initial Upload.
Blank Initial Summary
If a patient has dissented, then a blank Initial Summary is sent. This contains no clinical information but states that the patient has dissented along with the date of dissent.
