Patient Consent

Patient consent for Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) is assumed unless the patient specifically expresses dissent. To record patient dissent for CPRD, record the following clinical terms within the patient's record in Consultation Manager. To dissent from CPRD data collection, record one of the following:

  • 9Nu0.00 Dissent from secondary use of GP patient identifiable.
  • 9Nd1.00 No consent for electronic record sharing.

To withdraw dissent, for example, if the patient changes their mind about dissenting, record one of the following:

  • 9Nu1.00 Dissent withdrawn second use of GP patient identifiable data.
  • 9Nd7.00 Consent given for electronic record sharing.

The extraction looks at the latest of these clinical terms recorded.

England Only

Where a patient has chosen to not share their confidential information for research and planning purposes via the National Data Opt-out Service, their data is not included in a CRPD data collection.
