Working Offline

Vision 3 can be used offline without Single Sign On (SSO) if required. Working offline is discouraged as it can cause inconsistencies in registration procedures and opportunities to update the Personal Demographic Service (PDS) are missed by working offline.

Offline Working allows clinical data to be viewed or recorded but does not give any access to national services, for example, you cannot make bookings through the e-Referral Service, update or receive updates from the PDS or prescribe via the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). You are therefore, strongly encouraged to work online at all times.

To use Vision 3 offline:

  1. From your desktop, double click Vision 3 .
  2. The Gemscript Authenticate screen displays, select Cancel.
  3. The System Error screen displays, select Work Offline:

Note - In the event of failure of the connection to the national network, you are offered the same choices, this warns you that any changes to a patient's registration details are not conveyed to the national services and are therefore lost. You cannot use the e-Referral Service or EPS when offline.
  4. The Vision 3 Login screen displays for you to enter your Login Name and Password:

  5. Select OK to log in off line.

Note - When working offline, in Consultation Manager, patient records display with (OFFLINE) after the patient's name on the title bar.
Note – To print this topic select Print in the top right corner and follow the on-screen prompts.
