Links Tab

A Links tab acts as a standard web browser that can be run within Vision 3. This allows you direct access to the world of Medical information resources on the NHSNet and internet, for example, you can access the National Electronic Library for Health, a gateway to NHS approved resources.

You can configure more than one Links tab giving you seamless access to information on the selected patient. These links could include:

  • Community Systems
  • Test Requesting
  • Map to currently selected patient's address
  • Prostate Cancer Risk Management Programme Link

The Links tab needs to be set up on the Patient Record view for any GP or other staff likely to make e-bookings. There are two ways to do this:

  • If your practice uses distributed views and your clinicians do not customise their own screens, you can set up a new view with one or more Links tab(s) included, or
  • You can set up one or more Links tab(s) for each user as required.

Either way the set up of the Links tab is the same:

  1. From the Vision 3 front screen, select Consultation Manager.
  2. Select any patient, you are not adding information so the patient you select is not impacted.
  3. Right click on any tab, for example Journal and select Organise Tabs.
  4. The Data view pane - Organise Tabs screen displays, select Add.
  5. Highlight Patients Links Browser and select OK.
  6. &Links displays at the bottom of the Tabs list, highlight it and select Move Up at least once, Guidelines should always be at the end.
  7. Select OK.
  8. The ‘In order that the changes you have made may be reflected in the view the Consultation Framework will now be refreshed’ message displays, select OK.
  9. A Links tab now displays in the position you specified, right click on it and select View Options.
  10. The Browser Tab View Properties screen displays, complete as follows:

    • Tab Label - Enter a name for this tab, for example 'Internet'.

    • Initial Tab - Not recommended for Links, so do not tick.

    • Select name or add URL below - Enter either the web address required or select from the available list.

    • Set Homepage - Select to make this web address or option selected the first page offered on this tab.
  11. Select OK.
