Peak Expiratory Flow Rate Calculator (PEFR)

The Peak Expiratory Flow Rate Calculator can be used from the QOF/QAIF tools. The PEFR calculates the patients Peak Expiratory Flow Rate as a percentage of the target flow rate based on standard data for that age and height.

Accessing the Peak Expiratory Flow Rate Calculator

1. From Consultation Manager, select Vision+ from the floating toolbar and select Calculators - Respiratory - PEFR.

   

2. The Peak Expiratory Flow Rate Calculator displays:

   

3. Set the following:
   • Enter the patients peak expiratory flow rate by typing it into the box or using the up and down arrows.
   • The height and age display from the Patient's record.
   • The percentage of predicted displays.
   • Select to enter clinical terms for:
     • Peak flow reading codes.
     • Percent of predicted codes.
     • Best peak flow codes.
     • Peak flow meter at home codes.
   • Select to alter the Event Date if necessary.
4. Select OK to save the result to the patient's record or OK & Attach to also save the questionnaire.
5. The appropriate clinical term saves to the patient's record.
