Registering for Patient Services from NHS Choices (England only)

Before you can use the full online services offered by your GP practice you must:

  • Collect your registration letter - Request and collect a registration letter from your GP practice.
  • Register Online - This creates your user profile on the website so that you can login, see below.
  • Activate your Patient Services account - This links your user details to your Practice and verifies the email address you are using.

As there are several services you can use to access your online patient services account, the NHS provides a website for you use select which service you require.

Important - Ensure you have your online services registration letter from your GP before starting this process.

To register as a new Patient Services user:

  1. From your internet browser, go to www.nhs.uk/GPonlineservices or select the link from your online services registration email.
  2. The NHS Choices - GP online services page displays:

    Select Find GP practices.

  3. The Find GP services screen displays, enter your postcode in Location and select Search:

  4. A list of surgeries in your area displays. Find the surgery you are registered with and select Book appointment online:

  5. Depending on which services the NHS has enabled, you are now either routed straight to the Patient Services website, or you are presented with a choice of services that enable you to use the details on the registration letter from your surgery to register and use the full range of patient services available from your surgery.
