Guidelines - Copy, Cut, Paste, Drag and Drop Options

Once you are in design mode, you can select a line so that it is either highlighted in blue or framed by lines above and below.

You can then use any of the following options if required:

  • Copy - Select to copy selection to your clipboard, or press Ctrl + C on your keyboard. The original content is retained.
  • Cut - Select to cut your selection and move it to your clipboard, or press Ctrl + X on your keyboard. The original content is removed.
  • Paste - Select to paste your copied or cut content to your cursor position or press Ctrl + V on your keyboard.
  • Note - A note of warning is given about cutting and pasting lines that then leave inappropriate line levels, for example, pasting a level six line after a level four line. You are advised to check that line levels correspond to your intended hierarchy before saving the plan. See Line Levels and Text Indents for details.

Drag and Drop Lines

The position of groups of lines within a guideline or report can also be changed by using drag and drop:

Training Tip - All lower levels (children) of a level one line move with the parent line in this operation.
  1. First display the required guideline in Maintenance Mode .
  2. Click the line or group of lines to move and hold the mouse click.
Training Tip - If you want to copy a group of lines, press and hold the Ctrl key to select them.
  3. Move the cursor to where you want to drop the lines and release the mouse.

The selected line and all its children, now displays before the line on which you released the mouse.

Remember - All levels must be in sequence, you cannot leave lines with an inappropriate level number (level 4 after level 2, for example).
