GP Codes
The GP Code is essential in order to match the FHSREG messages within Registration Links Phase 2 and GPC3 (formerly, REGIS messages were used with GPC version 2 and Registration Links Phase 1, and still are in Scotland with Partners).
To check the GP codes are set up:
- From the Vision 3 front screen, select Management Tools - Control Panel and then File Maintenance.
- Select Staff and highlight the clinician required.
- From their Identifiers tab, check the following are set up.
- GMC code - A seven number code, the last is a check digit, it is unique for each GP, it has no associated organisation.
- GP Code - Displays under TP/HB/CSA and you should have one for each TP with which you have patients registered.
If these codes have not been set up, you need to add them, by simply selecting Edit and then Add. Select the Identifier Type, the Organisation where appropriate and then enter the code. Select OK to save and close. If in doubt, you may need to contact your TP.
A combination of the GMS Code and the GP code forms the code that the system uses in Registration Links eg 1234567,ABC123.
