To Enter a Family History
- On Read Term Add, type in #12, press Enter.
- Then press function key F3 for the full Read dictionary screen. The dictionary should be listed by codes, but if not, tick the box Display by Hierarchy.
- Double click the by 12... Family history. Look down the codes until you find the one you want. Highlight it and click on OK.
- At Read Term Add, which should now have your selected term, click OK.
- The Family History Add screen will then be displayed. You should find that Read Term of Family History has the term you selected from chapter 12, e.g. 126.. FH:Metabolic disorder. Read Term of Condition should have a corresponding entry, e.g., C3... Other metabolic and immunity disorders. If you want to be more specific, place your cursor in the Read Term of Condition window and press F3 and drill down the Read dictionary codes until you find the one you want. Click OK. Often the Read Term of Condition fills in automatically because it is linked to the Read Term of Family History; you can of course select another term if you prefer.
