Contraceptive Services - Add New record and prescribe oral contraceptive from guideline

This section takes you through the Contraception - Add screen.

  1. For a new record, select the patient, start a consultation and display the Contraceptive Services - Add screen (see Contraceptive Services-Add Entries).
  2. At the Service READ term field, select an appropriate READ term. For example, if you are giving oral contraceptive advice for the first time, select 611..00 General contraceptive advice, or 614.. Oral contraceptive or a 614 lower level term. For a list, see Contraception - READ terms.
  3. In Service Type, select First service - part of the Items of Service contraceptive service claims software that is now redundant. This was selected if there was no previous claim that was continuous (ie a new patient, or after a pregnancy).
  4. The NewClaim Expiry Date defaults to one year from today's date. To change this, move to this field either by clicking with the mouse or by using the <Tab> key and enter the Claim Expiry date in the abbreviated form, eg 1y, one year from today.
  5. There is no longer any need to record an Item of Service claim, using icon and display the IOS Claim - Contraceptive Services claim screen.
  6. If you want to record a Recall date, click on the icon. The Recall - Add screen displays:
  7. Add the recall date either in the format 1y (for one year) or 6m (for six months) or as an actual date. Note that if you enter the date in the 1y or 6m format, the actual date will only be displayed when you move to the next field or when you click on the OK button.
  8. Click on the OK button to accept the recall record.
