Save as Category Defaults

Each individual user can have defaults. For instance, you may want to increase the size of the fonts for all lines if you are using a high resolution screen. Defaults are held on a user basis so your individual preferences may be reflected. This means wherever you are on a network, your defaults will apply. To set up category defaults, change the Category defaults as you want to for the category, then click Save as Category defaults and click on OK.

Individual line properties are only stored where they differ from the default. So, if the default for a patient data line is the same for other patient data lines, except that you change the text colour on this particular line to, eg, yellow (with Save as category defaults unchecked), then the report form will be saved with the instruction: Display the patient data line according to all the defaults apart from a text colour of yellow.

If you subsequently save the category defaults for a patient data line with a text colour of blue, then all your patient data lines will appear as blue, except in the particular case above where the patient data line will continue to display in yellow.

Where possible, line properties should be left at their default properties, and you should adjust the defaults to your preference. Changing the default colour of a patient data line to yellow will still allow Dr Smith to display patient data lines in blue, but changing the patient data line in Blood Pressure to red, will mean Dr Smith will also see it in red. Obviously, there will be occasions when this is necessary.
