Automatic Triggering

Automatic Triggering of a guideline can occur if a specific READ term (set up in Triggering READ term for a guideline) triggers the appearance of a relevant guideline. This triggering is determined by one of three options (see Triggered display of Guidelines):

  • Disable Triggering - Even if the correct triggering READ term is entered, no guideline is triggered.
  • Passive Triggering - If the correct triggering READ term for a guideline is entered, a minimised Guideline line will appear in the bottom section of the navigation pane on the left-hand pane of the Patient Record. Click on this to maximise the Guideline within the Management tab. A new problem can be created from this READ term, the Guideline book icon on the toolbar will be opened and the minimised guideline is always shown on the navigation pane at each new consultation. If you choose not to create a problem initially, then the minimised guideline is only offered at that first consultation, and not thereafter. If the patient has a problem with a READ code that is also a guideline trigger, this guideline is passively displayed.
  • Active Triggering - If the correct triggering READ term is entered, the guideline is opened and displayed full screen.
