Authoriser

More than one person can be associated with a clinical record, for example:

  • Practice Nurse carries out the intervention
  • Registered GP authorises the data entry
  • Admin Assistant records the data

Vision allows for an extra person to be attributed on each clinical entry. Logically this is the person authorising entry, with the clinician being the person performing the intervention. In most cases, the person authorising data entry will be same for every item in a consultation. The Clinician and Authoriser default to the current user, unless the current user, such as a registrar, has a responsible partner set up in File Maintenance - Staff, in which case this will be the authoriser.

Any selection is valid in either the Clinician or Authoriser field. The selections will be preserved in the current session, ie across consultations, but they will not be saved across sessions. Authoriser is a field on both the Open New Consultation form, as well as the Consultation - Update form (double click on the status bar to display this form during an active consultation).

The authoriser is not displayed directly on the Journal entry. However, right click on an entry and select More....and the Authoriser is shown here. You can amend the Authoriser on the More form using the Update button. All other fields on the More form are read-only with the exception of Authoriser. A change of Authoriser is valid only for that one record. Other data entry will default to the Authoriser for the consultation. Authoriser is available in all search and reports selections.
