Using the Status of Waiting, In Consultation and Seen

The Status of an appointment can be either:

  • Waiting
  • In Consultation
  • Seen

You have the option to update the status of an appointment. This facility enables you to track a patient through the appointment process for all invested staff to see:

  1. When a patient arrives, they are checked in, via either a receptionist or a check in screen. This records the time the patient arrived. Within Consultation Manager - Appointments the patient displays as Waiting, with their arrival time and waiting time.
Note - Wait Time can display as a negative number until the appointment time depending on the settings in Consultation Manager Setup - Data Entry .
  1. When the clinician is ready to start the consultation, from the Appointments tab or List Appointments double click the required patient. A start time for the consultation is automatically recorded and the patient status is updated to In Consultation. If the patient has not yet been checked in, you are prompted that the patient has not yet arrived and asked whether you wish to start a consultation.
  2. When the consultation is finished and either:
    • The next patient is selected from List Appointments/Appointments tab
    • The current patient is deselected
    • A different patient is selected

    An end time for the consultation is recorded and the patient's status changes to Seen.

You can also right click on an appointment and select:

  • Select Patient - To start a consultation for this patient
  • Call Patient - To call this patient using an automated call system.
  • View Appointment Details - To view the details of this appointment
