Data Entry Cautions on Entering Recalls

Data Entry Cautions have been introduced to help you with the management of recalls and general data entry, as well as to accommodate for the automatic exclusion messages for Scottish practices using SCCRS.

  • This allows you to set up an exclusion period and reason for exclusion for a patient relating to a specific structured data area (SDA)
  • Any outstanding recalls within this exclusion period are automatically cancelled.
  • On adding a new recall, data entry or new caution within the exclusion period for the same SDA, you will be alerted with the caution details and can override if required.

When you attempt to enter a recall, either from Recall – Add or within a data entry form, if there are any relevant Data Entry Cautions with the same SDA or Read code, you are prompted with the Data Entry Caution warning.

  1. For example, from Add – Recall, you try to add a recall for Smear Screening.
  2. On clicking OK to save, if there is a data entry caution during this time period, you are prompted with the following: The following caution exists for this recall - 20/11/2008 Suggested exclusion period for Cervical Cytology from 20/11/2008 to 01/01/2010. Are you sure you wish to proceed?
  3. Here you can see the details of the caution and you have the option to:

Continue which closes the caution and saves the recall.

Cancel cancels the caution prompt and returns to the Add – Recall screen.
