Lock and Unlock the patient

A patient's record will be locked automatically when you select them, so that no other user can make entries to this patient until you unlock again (done automatically when you de-select them).

The option Consultation - Unlock the Patient is enabled when the record is locked in order to provide manual unlocking. The menu option toggles with its opposite Consultation - Lock Patient if the record is unlocked.

If a patient's data is in use by a first user, and is selected by a second user, perhaps for some urgent action such as a prescription, the second user will warned the patient is in use by another and be locked out of adding data and have display only.

The second user can then locate the first user and ask them either to come out of that patient, or to unlock the patient.

The second user can then lock the patient, to ensure exclusive use. The data or action can then be carried out, and the second user can then either unlock the patient, or deselect the patient when finished.
