Including a Patient's Drug History in a Referral Letter

There are three ways to do this:

  1. You can print the patient's drug history using the Patient Reports Index and other useful information and enclose this with the referral letter. Click on Patient Reports Index. Double click on All Issued Therapy and OK for the report to print straightaway without first displaying on-screen.
  2. Template letters can be set up with the option to print a patient's Repeat Masters (see Options, under Modules – Word Processor).
  3. If you want to include any information in the body of a referral letter, you must first copy the information you require BEFORE you do the referral letter.

You can also use New Consultation Manager from the Consultations menu and display the same patient. This allows pasting of several bits of information. The second Consultation Manager screen needs to be started and the patient selected before you click on the envelope icon on the "first" Consultation Manager screen. The second Consultation Manager will be display only. Control click on the Therapy lines (or Test Results or whatever) and drag towards the floating drop target, putting them on the bottom right Windows clipboard. Using the task bar, click back on the letter to re-display this. Position the cursor and do Control-V to paste the items. Switch back to the second Consultation manager to repeat copying other items and so on.

Otherwise, using only one Consultation Manager:

  1. Open Consultation Manager and select the patient. Display their Journal tab.
  2. Filter out the information you require using the options on the navigation pane. For a single category, just click on that line, eg on Therapy, or for more than one category, use Control-click on several lines for multi-selection.
  3. Once the information you want to copy displays under the Filtered tab, hold down the Control key and click with the left mouse button on all the drugs you want to paste into the letter.
  4. Now they are all highlighted, release the Control key and hold down the left mouse button on any highlighted drug (do NOT release the left mouse button).
  5. Now move the mouse in any direction to display the floating drop target (six-pane window).
  6. Move the mouse pointer over the bottom right button (the Windows logo) which should highlight it, and let the left mouse button go to "drop" (copy) the items to the Windows clipboard. (An alternative way to copy is to do Control C on highlighted items).
  7. The floating drop target disappears and although you cannot see anything, your list of items is ready to be pasted into your letter.
  8. Start a referral and enter referral details. Click on the envelope icon to generate a referral letter. Position the cursor where you want to paste the items and either do Control V or click on the Paste icon.
