Record Options
- Enable READ popup dialog - If this is checked, once the Patient Record/Consultation View screen displays, you can start to type a READ term straightaway, and a pop-up READ window displays.
- Record in Structured Data Area – When data is entered using READ, and if the Record in Structured Data Area box is checked, a list of appropriate Structured Data Areas (SDAs) is given, with the most likely highlighted, from which you can choose to place the data (you are NOT offered Medical History as a choice).
For example, an entry of #312 Visual Testing in Read Term - Add presents a choice of Intra-Ocular Pressure Left or Intra-Ocular Pressure Right.
- If Record in Structured Data Area is unchecked, a list of appropriate Structured Data Areas (SDAs) is given plus the option to place the data in the generalised Medical History.
- Automatically select best SDA – If checked, when there is a data entry, it will automatically try and select the best SDA even if there is a choice of two or more. A peak flow entry would automatically go in Peak Flow Current. We strongly recommend you tick this option, especially if you are using the new views, so that the correct data entry form displays. This option cannot be checked if Record in Structured Data Area is left unchecked.
Note - We recommend that the options Automatically Select Best fit SDA and Record inStructured Data Area are checked so the system automatically places the data in the correct SDA.
If you would like to always be given a choice of where to record Read codes, you can configure your recording options so that, where there is one or more SDA available, a list is offered and you can choose from this or select General History. To do this, remove the ticks from Automatically Select Best fit SDA and Record in Structured Data Area. If you now enter a Read term which can be stored in an SDA, you are presented with a list to choose from or an option to record in General History.
