Start a Second Consultation for Another Patient
You may find that whilst in a consultation with one patient, you need to go into a second patient's records without ending the current patient, for example, while taking a telephone call.
Two or more consultations can be run at once, but you are warned that it may become confusing, and the system's memory will only cope with a limited number of open screens at a time. This is because you are actually opening a second Consultation Manager module.
- From the Consultation menu, select New Consultation Manager.
- The Consultations – Consultation Options Setup screen displays if set to do so under Show Setup Form at Startup on General – Consultation Options Setup, Consultation - Options - Setup.
- Select the patient and make the data entries. The patient's name will be titled at the top of the screen.
- If you need to return to the first patient's screen, use the task bar or one of the Windows switching methods, such as Alt-Tab. The patient's name and date of birth will be displayed.
- When you finished with the second patient, select Close Consultation, then Exit Consultation Manager.
Multiple Consultation Managers and Vision+
Please be aware that when opening multiple Consultation Managers, Vision+ functionality is only available in the most recently opened instance of Consultation Manager. As you close extra instances of Consultation Manager, Vision+ functionality becomes active in the most recent remaining Consultation Manager screens and alerts display for the relevant patient if they are selected.
