Referrals
A referral should be recorded when you send a patient to be seen elsewhere for further care, for example:
- A hospital consultation (in-patient or outpatient)
- A follow up
- A review
A referral can also record incoming outpatient letters or discharge summaries in order to compile statistics for the Referral Report.
A clinician can make a history entry with a diagnosis and dictate a letter, another member of staff can later highlight the history entry and drag and drop it on to Create Referral on the floating drop target and complete the Referral - Add screen as directed.
Referrals within Vision allow you to:
- Create a referral letter or form merging the patient details with a template referral letter, see Generating a Referral/Request Letter.
- Create Default referrals which are letter templates triggered by clinical terms, used to enter similar data for referrals or similar hospital departments, see Setting Up Default Referrals and Requests.
- Compile statistics for the Referrals Report, which can be run from the Search/Reports module, see Referrals Reports.
See Adding a Referral or Adding a Referral - England for details on adding a referral.
