CHA2DS2-VASc - AF Stroke Risk Calculator

The CHAD2S2-VASc calculator evaluates ischaemic stroke risk in patients with Atrial Fibrillation. The patient is allocated points based on their previous medical history in the following areas:

• Congestive Heart Failure
• Hypertension
• Age (Over 75 years)
• Diabetes Mellitus
• Strokes or TIA
• Vascular Disease
• Age (65 to 74 years)
• Sex Category

The CHA2DS2-VASc risk score is calculated using the following data:

To complete the CHA2DS2-VASc Calculator:

1. From Consultation Manager, click on the Vision+ icon on the floating toolbar and select Calculators - Cardiovascular - CHA2DS2-VASc:

   

2. The top of the calculator shows a dot against the patient's pre-existing conditions. You also see the latest recorded entry along with the date of diagnosis at the base of the screen. To view historical data select a red previous entries icon or a blue previous entry icon indicates the patient does not have any previous records.
3. To do a 'What If' scenario with the patient you can change or select a box at the top of the screen which automatically adjusts the score at the base of the screen.

   

4. The Read code, score and event data are automatically displayed at the base of the screen. Select OK to record the Read code and score or select OK & Attach to record both the Read code and the attachment.
   Note - The Read code is recorded in the patient's journal under Scoring Test results with the Read code 38DE0 - CHA2DS2 - vascular disease, age, sex, category score.
