Superseded Records
A superseded record is one where the original NHS Number has been replaced with a new one. This is likely due to the original record having been a duplicate or confusion.
If an NHS number has been superseded and the new NHS Number is not in use on your Vision system, then it will be included in the Please resolve the PDS/Vision mismatches screen in the usual way. When you choose to Update on the mismatch screen, the new NHS number will be implemented (you cannot reselect the old NHS Number).
If the NHS number has been superseded but the new number is already in use on your Vision system, the following message will display:
Click on the OK button to continue. Any changes made will not update the PDS as the record is now decoupled. The situation will have to be investigated locally as it indicates a duplicated NHS number. The record can be recoupled once the discrepancy has been resolved.
